This leading NFP are experiencing high levels of growth on a critical program of work improving the lives on unpaid carers nationwide.
The Carer Counselling Service will provide a crucial platform for Carers across Australia to engage with professional, experienced counsellors and to obtain genuine outcomes to improve their wellbeing and sustainability in their caring roles.
The Counsellor, Carer Counselling Service will take an important role in the provision of phone assessment and counselling for carers in a flexible, responsive and person-centred way across 8am to 6pm nationally and will require strong therapeutic skills in assessing and delivering brief interventions to carers with anxiety, depression, stress and low mood.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Level 2 membership of the Australian Counselling Association or PACFA membership or AASW membership
- Demonstrated skills in providing evidence-based best practice counselling and crisis support to clients including carers
- Knowledge of current Child Protection practice, Domestic Violence best practice and suicide protocols
- Demonstrated ability to provide counselling on the phone
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Expertise in working with carers caring for those with disabilities, dementia and or mental health concerns will be very highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience in the use of electronic customer record management system(s) (CRM) or similar and Microsoft applications
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with First Nations and CALD colleagues and clients.
- Full-time or part-time opportunity (minimum 3 days per week)
- Availability to work Thursdays is essential
- Hybrid work model
- Base hourly rate: $43.08–$48.35 + super + salary packaging
- Permanent shifts are scheduled between 8:00 am–8:00 pm (non-daylight savings) and 8:00 am–9:00 pm (during daylight savings), Monday to Friday
- All staff are required to work at least one evening shift per week
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Counsellor
- Tertiary qualifications in Counselling or Social Work
