About the opportunity

The Carer Peer Trainer is responsible for delivering Carer Lived and Living Experience Training to our Identified Carer Peer Facilitators and ensuring ongoing quality of service delivery within Carer Gateway Services. The objective of this role is to ensure Peer Facilitators are equipped with the knowledge and skillset to provide Peer Support to Carers, using the peer work discipline and applying best practice peer work in group settings.

The position will use lived experience frameworks and encourages best practice training and workforce development outcomes within Carer Gateway. This role reports to the Carer Gateway Training and Development Lead and will collaborate with the broader Wellways Learning and Development team.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Lived or Living Experience as a Carer
• Certificate IV or above in Community Services or equivalent relevant industry experience
• Understanding of lived experience frameworks and the discipline of peer work;
• Willingness to intentionally and purposefully use Lived Experience to support others
• Experience in delivering or facilitating training or groups
• Right to work within Australia
• Current valid Driver's Licence and the ability to undertake some travel
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (free online course)
• Satisfactory National Police Records Check
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Working with Children's Check (Employee/Paid)
