About the role
Better Together Community Support are looking for a passionate and experienced Family Support Worker to join our Childrens Contact Centre in Atherton, North Queensland, located 1.5hours from tropical Cairns.
This is a casual role that will see you providing essential support services to families and children in the local community. Work availability includes Saturdays, some Sundays and occasional Thursdays.
Supervision of visits:
Supervise changeover visits and handovers, ensuring that the visit adheres to the family’s therapeutic plan and observing Better Together safety procedures.
Supervise and perform Centre activities that will strengthen parent-child bonds.
Ensure the safety and security of the Centre at all times by adhering to Better Together’s policies and procedures.
Case Plan Management:
Conduct intake interviews and inductions for families, including parent interviews, safety procedures and introductory visits ensuring that families are provided with pertinent information and appropriate referrals that link to their goals.
Assess the Centre’s interventions and effectiveness for each family including risk assessments, anticipating their current and future needs and amending client plans as necessary while also ensuring access to Better Together’s referral system and other external support programs.
Administration of Centre:
Facilitate the smooth administrative running of the centre using Better Together databases and computer systems.
Adhere to appropriate record-keeping and management using Better Together databases and computer systems according to reporting requirements.
What we're looking for
Minimum Diploma or Certificate IV in either Counselling, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Early Childhood Development and/or enrolment in a Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences.
Experience in early child development, child protection, interventions with parents or working in the community sector.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with families
Excellent case management and record-keeping skills
Hold or be willing to gain a Working with Children Blue Card, First Aid Certificate and Police check clearance.

This is a Casual position, including weekend hours. Saturday's rate of pay is $65.36 per hour, Sunday's rate is $84.04 per hour and weekdays standard rate is $46.69 per hour, as per the SCHADS Award, Level 3.1, Casual.
