Our Company and Culture

Global Food & Wine is a family owned and operated Food Service Distributor success story. From humble beginnings in 1984, the business has transformed into a major importer, distributor and wholesaler in the Queensland Market with multiple depots across the state servicing Queensland’s Foodservice Market. Without losing our essence of why we are here, our company is built on trust, excellent service and good old fashioned family values.

The Role

This role is in a high volume, fast paced environment which requires the ability to multi-task with ease. Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a talent for managing credit, collecting debts, and improving cash flow? We’re looking for a Credit Controller to take the lead on overseeing our commercial accounts. This full-time role is key to ensuring our financial health and fostering strong relationships with our valued clients.

This is a full time position (8am to 4pm - Monday to Friday *flexible) and your time will be split between our Rocklea and Gold Coast offices.

Key responsibilities will include:

Oversee the financial activities related to commercial customer accounts.

Collect and reconcile invoices to ensure timely settlement of outstanding balances.

Improve company cash flow through diligent debt collection practices.

Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing commercial clients by analysing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data.

Set up and maintain customer accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness in transaction processing.

Prepare and issue invoices to commercial customers with a high degree of accuracy.

Proactively manage the collection of outstanding debts from commercial customers, negotiating payment plans when needed, and coordinating with legal teams if necessary.

Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with clients—resolving account issues and providing exceptional customer service.

Prepare and present regular reports on account status, cash flow, and collection progress to management.

Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in all commercial account-related activities.

About You

Proven experience as a Credit Controller or in a similar finance/accounting role, preferably handling commercial accounts, you will bring:

Ability to analyse financial statements, credit reports, and other financial data to assess creditworthiness and make informed decisions.

Understanding of risk assessment and mitigation strategies to minimize bad debts and optimize cash flow.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.

Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, address their concerns, and provide support related to account issues.

Precision in handling financial transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

Ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement effective strategies to resolve account-related problems.

Efficient management of multiple accounts, tasks, and deadlines to ensure smooth operation of financial activities.

Familiarity with accounting software, financial tools, and Microsoft Office applications to perform tasks efficiently.

Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards that govern credit and commercial account activities.

Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Why Join Us?

Be part of a dynamic and collaborative finance team.

Opportunity to work with a portfolio of respected commercial clients.

A role where your impact is tangible—contributing directly to the company’s financial performance.
