Salary Range: $86,917 - $99,742 per annum pending experience

About the role
Townsville Catholic Education is currently seeking a School Support Finance Officer - Fees and Collection to join the team. This is a Full Time, Permanent position commencing as soon as practicable.
The School Support Finance Officer - Fees and Collection will implement processes and practices for a consistent approach to fee collection across all TCE schools. The role is responsible for the development, review and implementation of procedures and guidelines pertaining to fee collections, debt management and concessions. The role will work collaboratively with and provide advice to Principals and school finance staff with respect to specific fee collection issues. This will include assessing eligibility for Fee Concessions and Discounts and undertaking audits to identify opportunities for improvement.
The role reports directly to the Senior Accountant – Schools and will work as part of the TCEO Finance Department.
Key Accountabilities
Develop, implement and maintain contemporary best practice fee collection procedures
Inform enrolment procedures and processes to ensure debt collection compliance
Facilitate regular correspondence to debtors consistently across diocesan schools
Providing expert advice and support to school staff and Principals with respect to the management of specific debtors
Manage the debt collection processes pertaining to TCE school leadership and challenging debtors.
Manage the escalation of debtors to TCE’s debt collection agency
Monitor debtor creation processes and provide advice regarding debtor structures in the student management system
Undertake reviews of school billing processes and discount applications
Undertake audits of debtor accounts to ensure compliance and best practice
Supporting schools to appropriately manage government payments (AIC/LAFHA and ABSTUDY), ensure compliance with payment requirements
Provide expert advice to School Support Accountants including financial implications of audit and review process findings
Monitor and report on debtor balances and trends across Diocesan schools
Custodian of the debt collection module of the financial management system
Improve school staff knowledge and skills in fee collection practices
Other duties as reasonably requested by the Senior Accountant – Schools
About you
5 Years' experience in a debtor management role
Demonstrated experience improving debtor management practices and processes
Demonstrated experience in identifying debtor trends
Demonstrated experience using debt collection systems
Mandatory Criteria
Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government
Current Driver’s Licence
Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
Desirable Criteria
Qualification in credit management, law or business discipline pertinent to debt collection practices
Membership with the Australian Institute of Credit Management or similar body.
