The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Education Supervisor to provide a critical role at H.M Prison Langi Kal Kal.
About the Business Unit
H.M. Prison Langi Kal Kal is a minimum-security men's protection facility located 140klm west of Melbourne at Trawalla with the primary purpose is the reintegration and preparedness of people in custody for transition to release. H.M Prison Langi Kal Kal is made up of eight separate industries: Farm, Horticulture, Landmate, Kitchen, Metal fabrication, Poultry, Textiles & Warehouse, where there is a strong focus on employment, training, and work readiness.
Corrections Victoria (CV) is responsible for the management and funding arrangements relating to the delivery of education and training in Victorian custodial facilities. The Prisoner Employment Pathway Framework supports a whole of system integrated approach to education and training. The aim is to increase employment prospects and access to other socio-economic opportunities which will ultimately contribute to a reduction in the recidivism rate.
About the Role
The Education Supervisor will assist with the implementation of the Prisoner Employment Pathway Framework through a range of education and training related support, coordination and planning services for people in custody engaging in VET, on-the-job training, and distance education. They will service a location or multiple locations with a focus on the day-to-day operations of these locations. Understanding issues affecting the participation of people in our care in education and training is a core part of the role, and the Education Supervisor will provide leadership in addressing such issues.
As the Education Supervisor, some of your duties will include:
- Monitoring and reporting on the facility's compliance with the relevant service delivery outcome requirements and identifying and resolving any issues relating to non-compliance.
- Negotiating with and manage education providers to deliver services in accordance with contractual obligations and resolve service delivery issues where required.
- Developing, implementing, and managing local processes to maximise opportunities for prisoner participation in VET, and identify and introduce process improvements where required.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in the coordination of operational service delivery across a variety of business units and program areas, including service performance monitoring and reporting would be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience within an education environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience within a correctional services environment.
Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in education, social sciences or criminal justice is desirable, but not mandatory.
