The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Intake and Triage Supervisor to provide a critical role within Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS)
About the Business Unit
The FAS was highly anticipated by victims and stakeholders and represents a major leap forward in government's response to victims of crime. Established under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme) Act 2022 the FAS provides financial assistance through a simple and easy to navigate process that is fair, sensitive, and responsive to victims' needs. The FAS acknowledges the harm done and is trauma informed, inclusive, and culturally safe
About the Role
Reporting to the FAS Manager - Operations, you will be responsible for the management of a team of Intake and Triage Officers and have oversight of all initial application reviews. This includes completeness checks and making decisions on a range of interim financial supports and future authorised expenses.
Some of your duties will include:
- Manage a team of FAS Intake and Triage Officers, supporting and guiding them to deliver quality and consistent service.
- Act as an initial escalation point for complex applications, including making interim decisions and approving future authorised expenses.
- Manage the daily operation of the intake and triage function, including allocation of resources, management of work, communication with staff, completion of reports, and ensuring that the intake and triage function meets daily service targets and functional responsibilities.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Technical Expertise
- Proven leadership in intake or assessment teams within complex service environments, with the ability to make decisions within legislative and policy frameworks.
- Strong commitment to trauma-informed, culturally safe, and intersectional practice, with a focus on improving outcomes.
- Deep understanding of family violence and sexual assault dynamics, including reflective and relationship-based service delivery approaches.
- Commitment to actively pursuing a culturally safe workplace and organisation and improved outcomes for Aboriginal people, aligned with the principle of self-determination.
- Proficient in case management systems like Salesforce; experience in managing payments is also desirable.
Qualifications
- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in business administration, operations, community services, social work, criminology, psychology, victim services, and/or family violence is desirable.
