The details:

  • Permanent Full Time | 9 day fortnight
  • $69,344 pa (includes industry allowance and uniform allowance) + 12% super + leave loading
    Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream B) - Level 5 of the EBA5
  • 76 hour fortnight
  • Location: Site based with a Caboolture home depot location. Please note, whilst this position has an allocated home depot location, the work will be based across various sites within the area and our team members will start and finish on the job site. Travel allowance is applicable for distances travelled further than your allocated home depot location

As a backhoe operator within our Construction team, your primary responsibility will be focusing on operating a backhoe to perform roads and drains related maintenance. You may also have an opportunity to work interchangeably with other on-site equipment, including excavators, rollers and graders if licenced. This position is part of Council's internal Cosntruction team and will be primarily involved in storm water and road rehabilitation projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating the backhoe as your main equipment
  • Operating additional plant and equipment as needed, within the scope of your training and licences
  • Conducting daily pre-start inspections on relevant plant and equipment
  • Reporting any defects, safety concerns or issues related to the machinery or ongoing projects

This role requires a proactive approach to equipment operation and a strong commitment to safety protocols. You'll be an integral part of the team delivering Council's internal construction projects, with a focus on stormwater and road infrastructure work.

About you

Ideally you will bring a wealth of relevant experience and current or recent hands on experience operating backhoes in similar maintenance environments. Your background will demonstrate proficiency in handling a variety of medium sized plant items (backhoes, excavators and bobcats) typically used in civil construction and maintenance projects.

To complement your practical experience, you must also possess:

  • a current truck licence (minimum Heavy Rigid - HR class)
  • a Construction Induction card
  • Certification to operate a Backhoe (LB)

This combination of practical experience and formal qualifications will ensure you're well equipped to excel in this dynamic role, contributing to the efficiency and safety of our maintenance operations.
