The Tiwi Land Council was established on the 18 August 1978, following representation by the Tiwi people to the Federal Government for recognition of their distinct geographic and cultural identity.
The Tiwi Land Council represents all Tiwi people in the protection of land, sea, and environment, while at the same time supporting sustainable economic development to improve Tiwi lives through employment, income, education and health opportunities. Position Overview
Based out of our Winnellie office in Darwin, NT, the Finance Officer is responsible for assisting and supporting the delivery of the financial activities of the Land Council. The position works closely and will take direction from the Finance Manager in the day-to-day delivery of finance and payroll functions.
Role responsibilities
Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payment and verify invoice details and match with purchase orders.
Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure consistency between bank statements and transactions in the accounting system and investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Assist in processing payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation.
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial report.
Support the Finance Manager in preparation for audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
Assist in maintaining the general ledger and posting journal entries.
Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.
Provide general administrative support to the Finance Department.
Assist in filing, archiving, and maintaining financial documentation.

$70,000 base per annum plus superannuation
Full-time permanent position
