Department of Children and Families provides support services across child protection, out of home care, homelessness services, prevention of domestic, family and sexual violence and family and parent support services.

As a Senior Project Officer (AO7) your primary objective is to provide high-level support to the Director, Transforming Aboriginal Outcomes to drive reforms to improve outcomes for Aboriginal children, families and communities, coordination and high-level secretariat support of the Aboriginal Cultural Security Leadership Committee, and planning and enabling the annual Aboriginal Employee Forum.

Your key duties and responsibilities involve supporting the development of key projects and actions to progress outcomes for Aboriginal children and families in line with the Aboriginal Cultural Security Framework, undertaking research, trends and gap analysis that will inform service options and solutions, and project managing complex projects in a rapidly changing environment. Additionally, you will coordinate, prepare and review reports, submissions, briefings and correspondence, including Ministerial and Executive Advice.

To be successful you require, demonstrated experience and knowledge in project management, including development and implementation of Aboriginal initiatives and policy, strong negotiation, communication, coordination and organisational skills, supported by a level of cultural competence that includes a sound understanding of contemporary issues relating to the Aboriginal workforce. Demonstrated research, strategic thinking and analytical skills, and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

In return, you’ll receive a competitive remuneration package, inclusive of 11.5% superannuation, 6 weeks’ recreational and 3 weeks’ personal leave, 17.5% annual leave allowance and additional paid leave to cover the Christmas – New Year’s shut-down.
