Eaton House is a boutique style disability support service. In-home, community and centre-based services are provided such as personal care, domestic assistance, in-home respite, short-term accommodation, social and community support and after school hours care. The House Coordinator is responsible for the effective delivery of these services as well as managing disability support staff, rostering and implementing and maintain house procedures and work practices.
House Coordinators are provided with an induction program, Eaton House Policies and Procedures, training and development and regular supervision
POSITION OBJECTIVES
1. Provide staff and client orientation to Eaton House premises;
2. Maintain the effective operation of the house including procuring house supplies, completing home safety and maintenance tasks and ensuring house cleanliness;
3. Maintain and securely store staff and client files, communication records and policies and procedures;
4. Provide a balanced and efficient staff roster and communicate rosters to staff in a timely manner;
5. Mentor and provide support to disability support workers;
6. Liaise with clients, their families/carers and support network (where appropriate) to respond to enquiries, discuss service logistics and elicit feedback;
7. Provide support to clients through implementing identified support plans;
8. Facilitate life skill development, daily living tasks and community inclusion and participation, dependent on individual needs, abilities and preferences;
9. Inform the Program Manager of any concerns or issues relating to customer behaviour and welfare;
10. Maintain regular and clear communication with the Program Manager and other relevant staff regarding client shifts;
11. Adhere to Eaton House Policies and Procedures and Code of Conduct and work in a manner that ensures the safety and wellbeing of customers, staff, visitors and yourself;
12. Promote empowerment and the right of choice for all people in need of support within the community;
13. Maintain current knowledge and understanding of the relevant organisational and Departmental policies, procedures and guidelines; and
14. Participate in meetings, training and development and supervision as required.
SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Supervisory experience including mentoring staff, facilitating staff training and rostering experience.
2. High level organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work tasks, adhere to deadlines and multitask in a fast pace environment.
3. Well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation, problem solving and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, their families/carers and Eaton House staff members.
4. An understanding of the Person Centred approach to planning, developing and reviewing disability support plans and knowledge of the Strengths Based approach to providing disability support.
