Purpose of the Position
The primary purpose of the Assistant Accountant role is to support the Company with accounts and administrative duties whilst providing accurate and timely accounts processing and reporting in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities & Duties
▌▌Reporting Accountabilities
General Ledger Account Reconciliations
Assist with the preparation of monthly and year end management reports and budget
Assistance to external auditors with year-end audit
Management of fixed asset register for entities
Processing monthly inter-company transactions including contra payments, advertising levies, license fees and royalties
▌Accounts Payable
Data processing and creditor invoicing (3 companies)
Cheque and EFT payments
Creditor statement reconciliations
Attend to vendors’ queries
▌Accounts Receivable
Bank reconciliations
Supplier subsidies and invoicing
Re-charge invoicing to stores and suppliers
Contra processing
Attend to franchisees’ queries
▌General Duties
- Taxation
- IAS and BAS returns
- Annual Fringe Benefit Tax payments (April)
- Preparation of annual payment summaries (June)
- General administration duties
- Attend and provide input at finance team meetings
▌Other Duties
- Ad-hoc projects as required from time to time
- Undertake other duties ad may be directed/required from time to time
▌ Work Health & Safety Responsibility – Actively participate in the NSC Work Health & Safety Committee policies, procedures and initiatives within the business.

- Participate and comply with all Standard and Safe Operating Procedures

- Participate in any workplace consultative meetings relating to Work Health and Safety where required
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of all people who may be affected by your actions at work
Work Experience & Technical Skills
Experience / Qualifications
- Accounting or bookkeeping experience in accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Formal accounting or bookkeeping qualifications
- Intermediate Excel and sound IT skills
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
