About the opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Centre of Research Excellence in Pulmonary Fibrosis (CRE-PF) team as a Research Development Manager to develop and support research endeavours. You will be closely working with the CRE-PF lead Professor Tamera Corte, Program Manager Dr Alison Hey-Cunningham and other chief investigators of this nationally collaborative program.

This role is responsible for the general management of all operational aspects of the CRE-PF research development work, including planning, developing, submission and reporting of research funding applications to meet the Centre's research objectives. Drawing on their expertise in research, the Research Development Manager will play an active role in monitoring research funding opportunities, developing content and managing the application process with a large collaborative team, and liaising with key stakeholders. The Research Development Manager reports on the progress

of the research (including to external funding bodies), sources grant funding, and collaborates with academics and research professionals to achieve the goals of the CRE-PF.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide effective program management for research development undertaken by the Centre of Research Excellence in Pulmonary Fibrosis
  • manage various research funding applications, including planning, content development, compliance tracking, governance, and communication
  • support the strategic direction of the centre's research development plan by offering sound, strategic advice
  • provide funding oversight for research development opportunities within the centre
  • develop and manage research project application budgets in collaboration with the chief investigator and senior centre management
  • manage key stakeholder relationships, events, and communications
  • ensure governance and ethics requirements for research development activities are appropriately addressed and met

About you

  • a proven track record of achievement in the development and success of NHMRC and/or MRFF research grant applications
  • ​postgraduate qualifications and relevant work experience in a related field
  • a sound knowledge of government policies and procedures regarding research funding and processes related to identifying, securing and managing funding
  • a strong understanding of the higher education sector environment and culture, and the research funding landscape
  • a demonstrated ability to provide sound strategic research development advice and support to researchers
  • excellent analytical, strategic and critical thinking skills with demonstrated experience in evaluating complex problems/information to make sound judgements
