About the Role

We are seeking two Senior Lecturers to join our Law discipline:

  • One ongoing role
  • One fixed-term contract – to February 2029

As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a key role in shaping the student experience, advancing impactful research, and fostering meaningful connections with industry and community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead or collaborate on high-quality research aligned with the University’s strategic priorities, securing external funding, and publishing in high-quality refereed journals.
  • Design and deliver innovative undergraduate and postgraduate courses, with a focus on practice-based learning and technology-enhanced delivery.
  • Foster strong connections with industry, government, and professional networks to enhance research impact and student outcomes.
  • Supervise honours and higher degree research (HDR) students and contribute to a supportive research environment.
  • Provide academic leadership through curriculum development and academic governance.

These roles are based at the University’s NUspace building in Newcastle’s CBD (on Awabakal and Worimi land), with opportunities to teach online and at other campuses on occasion.

  • Salary: Academic Level C - $143,602 - $165,586 plus 17% superannuation.

About You

You will bring:

  • A PhD in Law or a related discipline.
  • Established record of high-quality research publications and successful research funding.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising honours and HDR students with a focus on timely completions.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching and engage in curriculum development.
  • Strong leadership skills in learning and teaching activities, including course coordination and program convening.
  • Outstanding performance in internal and external engagement activities.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Ability to teach compulsory subjects within the Law curriculum.
  • Strong partnerships with the legal profession, industry, and government.
  • Experience in clinical legal education or experiential learning models.
