Currently there are two venues in the SOPO Group, the group consists of the famous SOPO Club located on the historical site in the centre of Southport, with the new Gold Coast trams at its doorstep and the Diggers Sports Club centrally located in Beach Road Surfers Paradise.

The SOPO Club has extensive dining options with a modern kitchen and one of the largest function facilities in Southport, supplement the club’s bars and gaming lounge with one hundred and forty EGMs, Diggers Sports Club Bars and dining facilities with a modern gaming lounge featuring the latest EGMs, these are busy venues particularly at holiday periods.

The Group Executive Chef is required to successful oversee the operation of the Catering in both venues, answering directly to the Operations Manager with extensive catering experience. If you are keen to help drive innovation, quality, and efficiency in a catering operation with a progressive club group, this role you’ve been looking for.

The successful candidate is required to be firm yet fair, handle the pressure associated with high volume at times, build a group of team players, you will enjoy being hands-on as well as providing leadership and motivation to the kitchen brigade. The role requires frequent evening and weekend work.

Your expertise will be instrumental in enhancing the menus to suite the various customers’ needs and your business and computer skills will be applied to implement and fulfil quality standards, and achieve revenue, labour and gross profit targets.

To secure this position, the suitable candidate will possess the following:

Significant experience in fast-paced club or pub catering operations

In-depth understanding of kitchen costings and knowledge of accounting practices

A passion for ever changing menus and specials showcasing your team’s talent

A proven track record in achieving catering budgets

A commitment for implementing and managing high standards

Moderate to high computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite
