We’re looking for a passionate and driven Assistant Manager to help lead our team and deliver an outstanding dining experience at our new restaurant located at Cairn’s most visited tourist attraction, the Cairns Aquarium.

Assistant Manager – at Squires Loft Cairns Aquarium

Position Overview:
As an Assistant Manager at Squires Loft, you’ll be responsible for supporting the Front of House team, overseeing day-to-day operations, and ensuring that every guest has an exceptional experience. You’ll work closely with the Restaurant Manager to ensure smooth service flow, manage staff, and help with the administrative duties that keep the restaurant running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Support and guide floor staff to ensure smooth operations. Assist in the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of team members and 1-on-1s.

Shift Management: Oversee day-to-day service, ensuring all staff are performing their roles efficiently and to the required standard.

Customer Service Excellence: Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service, ensuring that guests are happy, satisfied, and receive an exceptional experience.

Operational Management: Help manage opening and closing procedures, ensure inventory and stock are accounted for, and ensure cleanliness and organisation of the restaurant.

Cash Handling & POS Management: Oversee the operation of the POS system and ensure all transactions are accurately processed. Handle cash and reconcile tills at the end of the shift.

Event Coordination: Assist in planning and executing functions or special events, ensuring the team delivers exceptional service and operations run smoothly.

Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all staff adhere to health, safety, and food hygiene regulations, creating a safe and clean environment for both staff and guests.

Problem-Solving: Handle customer complaints or concerns quickly and effectively, maintaining a calm and positive approach in high-pressure situations.

Reporting & Administration: Assist with administrative tasks, including staff rosters, stock control, and daily operational reports.
