Café Manager Position

The role of the Sycamore Tree Café Manager is:

To oversee Cafe Operational Management (Finance, Marketing, Customer Service, Staff/Volunteers, and Inventory Management)

To lead and support the volunteers, empowering them to thrive in a ‘learn on the job’ environment

To provide high quality hospitality, food and drink to the Sycamore Tree community

To collaborate with the Banyule network, including ‘Out of Hours’ users (Uniting Church, Café of Dangerous Idea, Theology Hub etc.), to work towards providing a space for community inclusion and connection.

We are seeking a Café Manager who has:

Food Safety Supervisor certification

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a hospitality operational management role, in a busy café or restaurant (inventory, marketing, finance, staff/volunteer rostering etc.)

Ability to coordinate, mentor and train staff/volunteers.

Experience in both front and back of house, including exceptional barista skills and food preparation. Chef experience desirable.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Experience within the not-for-profit sector is desirable

Café Assistant Manager Position

The role of the Sycamore Tree Café Manager is:

To assist the Sycamore Tree Cafe Manager in all aspects of the business

To assist leading and supporting the volunteers, empowering them to thrive in a ‘learn on the job’ environment

To provide a high quality of hospitality, food and drink to the Sycamore Tree community

To collaborate with the Banyule network, including ‘Out of Hours’ users (Uniting Church, Café of Dangerous Idea, Theology Hub etc.), to work towards providing a space for community inclusion and connection

To Step into the Manager role during times of leave/training.

We are seeking an Assistant Café Manager who has:

Food Safety Supervisor certification

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a hospitality assistant management (2IC) role, in a busy café or restaurant (inventory, marketing, finance, staff/volunteer rostering etc.)

Ability to assist with coordination, mentoring and training of staff/volunteers.

Experience in both front and back of house, including exceptional barista skills and food preparation. (Chefs experience desirable)

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Experience within the not-for-profit sector is desirable

Successful candidates will:

Have the right to work in Australia full-time

Have or undergo a Working with Children Check

Undergo a national Police Check before commencement
