Lead bold, community-led reform in Aboriginal primary healthcare across Perth’s South Metro region.
Moorditj Koort Aboriginal Corporation (MKAC) is seeking a culturally grounded, values-driven General Practitioner to step into the executive-level role of Senior Medical Officer (SMO). This is more than a clinical position—it’s a rare opportunity to shape a culturally secure, community-led model of care that honours Aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and healing.
About MKAC
MKAC is a dynamic Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) providing holistic, culturally safe primary health care to Aboriginal people and families across the Perth metro and Wheatbelt regions.
We’re growing rapidly—establishing new clinics, expanding community programs, and partnering across the health system to deliver truly integrated care. At the heart of this transformation is our Moorditj Koort Connecting Care (MKCC) Framework—a bold model grounded in community, culture, and connection.
About the Role
As SMO, you will:
Deliver high-quality GP services (70–80% clinical)
Provide strategic and culturally grounded clinical leadership (20–30%)

Mentor and support a high-performing, culturally responsive clinical workforce
Guide MKAC’s GP Partnership Strategy with up to 20 like-minded practices
Influence health system reform through research, partnerships, and advocacy
This role offers executive scope with clinical continuity—ideal for an experienced GP who is passionate about working alongside Aboriginal communities in ways that respect culture, enable healing, and strengthen self-determination.
What We’re Looking For
AHPRA-registered Specialist GP (FRACGP or FACRRM)
Experience in delivering culturally secure primary health care—ideally in an ACCHS or similar setting
Demonstrated leadership and governance capability
Strong understanding of Aboriginal health, cultural safety, and trauma-informed practice
Commitment to Aboriginal-led models of care and equity in health outcomes
Benefits
Executive-level salary, negotiated based on experience
Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax-free (PBI status)
$2,000 annual professional development allowance
Relocation support of up to $5,000 for interstate applicants
Additional leave: 2 weeks Christmas shutdown + NAIDOC Cultural Leave
Strong cultural mentorship from Elders and Executive Team
Integrated care model with Holistic Programs supporting our clinical team
Flexible working arrangements (hybrid considered)
