We’re looking for a dedicated, hands-on Motel Manager (ideally a couple) to lead daily operations, create memorable guest experiences, and help shape our next chapter as we modernise and grow.

The Motel

Nestled in the beautiful spa region of Daylesford, just 1.5 hours from Melbourne, Hepburn Springs Motor Inn is the perfect basecamp for exploring. Our 18-room property blends comfort with thoughtful touches, encouraging guests to extend their stay. Set in one of Australia’s premier regional lifestyle locations, Daylesford offers a unique blend of natural beauty, wellness culture, and a vibrant local community.

Key operational tasks at the motel are simplified: the bulk of our laundry is outsourced, guest check-in is fully automated via our smart lock system, and an off-site teammate handles reservations and online guest communication channels (SMS, email, chat).

With new owners modernising the motel and ambitious plans to elevate the guest experience, it’s an exciting time to join us!

The Opportunity

Join a small, passionate team of hospitality innovators in this rare opportunity. It suits someone who’s hands-on, community-minded, house-proud, and ready for the physical demands of the job.

You’ll be supported by two Melbourne-based owners and an off-site assistant who handles reservations, guest communications, phones, marketing, and operations. This means fewer admin tasks and more focus on guest experience and property care.

Package

Total package valued at $86,000:

$65,000 salary plus super

Live onsite in a 3-bedroom, 1-bath home, including all utilities and internet (valued at $21,000)

Potential for performance bonuses in future years

38 hours per week (full-time, or shared as a flexible role for a couple)

Flexible shifts. At least one rostered day off during peak periods, and more flexibility during quiet weeks subject to motel occupancy.

Additional housekeeping hours available during peak periods

Key Responsibilities

Lead and undertake day-to-day housekeeping to maintain exceptional cleanliness and presentation standards.

Tend to light maintenance, gardening, and property upkeep.

Greet and engage with guests, fostering a welcoming atmosphere.

Troubleshoot guest issues with the support of our remote teammate.

Keep storerooms and outdoor areas tidy and well-maintained.

Maintain relationships with tradespeople, suppliers and the local community.

About You

Physically fit and hands-on, with stamina for housekeeping and gardening.

Friendly, practical, and community-oriented.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Experience in hospitality, facilities management, or similar roles preferred.

A passion for regional hospitality and small-town living.
