Base Salary: $113,390 to $121,517 per annum (Admin 7.1 to 7.4)

Who are we?
Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory.
We work to address the social determinants of health including the broader issues that affect our people's health, through evidence-based research and public advocacy. We also work to empower individuals, families, and communities to optimise their health.
About the role
The Research Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for all research activities undertaken through DDHS. The position works closely with internal teams and external research partners to coordinate the delivery of culturally safe, ethical, and locally relevant research projects. This role will directly contribute to 1-3 specific projects through activities such as participant recruitment, data collection and stakeholder engagement. The Research Coordinator will also support the development of a strategic research agenda that aligns with DDHS priorities and strengthens the organisations' research capacity.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the application and review process for new research projects undertaken by DDHS in collaboration with the Research Working Group Committee.
- Maintain a register of all research projects involving DDHS, including monitoring the status and commitments of each research project.
- Prepare monthly briefings for the Executive Management Team on research governance decisions and project updates.
- Support budget planning and contribute to team reporting and accountability activities.
- Assist with research project implementation including participant recruitment, consent processes, facilitating yarning circles/focus groups, and basic data collection.
- Liaise with academic and community partners to support collaborative research and maintain positive working relationships.
- Support internal documentation and processes that strengthen the organisation's research governance and partnerships.
To be successful you will need:
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., registered nurse, AHP, health sciences).
- Previous experience in undertaking health related research.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of Primary Health Care and Research within Indigenous health.
- Knowledge of the social determinants of health (environment, economic and social inequalities) that have a profound impact on the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Demonstrated ability to use culturally sensitive ways to ensure improved client access to DDHS and/or other health services.
- Proven teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to constructively negotiate outcomes with a diverse range of people and service providers.
- High level of personal resilience and flexibility with the ability to deal with challenging situations.
- Demonstrated computer skills, especially in the use of client information systems or similar.
Desirable
- Qualifications in research or public health.
- Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service or similar complex environment.
- Knowledge or experience in research governance, ethics review processes, or partnership coordination.
What we offer:
- 6 weeks annual leave per annum
- 5 days paid leave during end of year shutdown period (on top of annual leave)
- Salary packaging of up to $15,990 per annum
