About the QNMU
The Queensland Nurses and Midwives' Union (QNMU) is the industrial and professional organisation for nurses and midwives working in public and private health and aged care in Queensland. The QNMU seeks to promote and defend the industrial, professional, social, political and democratic interests of over 74,000 members. We have over 200 employees including organisers, professionals and administrative personnel, and manage a multi-million-dollar operating budget.
Why is the role exciting?
Reporting to the Education Manager, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to project manage, coordinate and implement high quality online and offline events and activities which support the QNMU’s strategies, in particular, positive engagement with members and the community.
Some of the major QNMU events that you will be responsible for effectively managing include, but are not limited to:
Labour day
QNMU Annual Conference
QNMU Awards
Member run Branch CPD events
This position is a temporary full-time contract until end of January 2027.
Who we’re looking for: -
We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience to fulfil the responsibilities of this position: -
Relevant experience in a similar role;
Demonstrated Powerpoint skills, graphic design appreciation, event registration software experience, office and windows programs;
Exhibits initiative, discretion and good judgement within a broad range of the required skills and knowledge;
Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, establish priorities, use initiative and be proactive in raising and dealing with issues;
Excellent interpersonal skills and a capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, including senior management, staff, elected representatives, media and external parties;
Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing reports and correspondence;
Demonstrated excellent organisational skills with strong emphasis on time management, financial accountability and flexibility to adjust and adapt workloads to meet competing office priorities;
Strong attention to detail, logic, interest in new media (social);
Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and take a collaborative approach to work; and
Demonstrated commitment to QNMU’s values, purpose and trade unionism in general.
What are the benefits?
Starting base salary of $113,224.20 per annum
5 weeks annual leave per annum + 17.5% leave loading
Monthly ADO’s (13 per year) or opportunity to work compressed hours 9 day fortnight
Christmas closure – no leave required
