Our client is a well-established shopping centre owner and management group in South East Queensland, overseeing a diverse portfolio of retail assets. Committed to maintaining high standards of presentation, safety, and operational excellence, they are seeking a proactive Facilities Assistant to join their team.

About the Role
Reporting to the Centre Manager and Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the shopping centre. This hands-on position involves asset maintenance, contractor coordination, risk management, and general upkeep to ensure the centre remains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining the centre’s assets and ensuring all operational systems and procedures are followed
• Ensure risk management and safety procedures are continuously implemented
• Monitor and liaise with contractors and service providers (security, cleaning, maintenance, etc.)
• Investigate and report incidents, ensuring compliance with WHS policies
• Carry out minor maintenance and cleaning tasks, including lighting replacements, plumbing, and gardening
• Support tenancy fit-outs and coordinate with retailers on operational matters
• Participate in emergency control procedures and attend relevant training sessions

About You

• Previous experience in an operational, maintenance, or facilities role (shopping centre experience desirable)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• A proactive and hands-on approach to daily tasks
• Knowledge of WHS regulations and risk management procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A valid driver’s license and relevant statutory licenses (or willingness to obtain)
