James Cook University (JCU) are seeking a Project Officer to join our Technology Solutions team and provide high-level administrative, reporting, and financial support, enabling the successful delivery, reporting and governance of IT projects.
- Full time 36.25hrs per week
- Fixed term until July 2026 (parental leave cover)
- Based at our Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus
- $ 85,816.60- $ 92,948.21 per year plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery and achievement of project outcomes by providing high-level administrative support and ensuring all tasks are completed in line with established processes and procedures. You will deliver accurate and compliant financial administration support in accordance with University financial policy and procedures. The Project Officer will play a key role in contributing to service improvements by identifying procedural and system inefficiencies and implementing corrective actions or initiatives where required. A strong focus on risk management will be essential, as you will be tasked with mitigating contract-related risks through strict compliance with documentation, reporting, and record-keeping requirements in line with legislation, policy, and procedures. Additionally, you will ensure stakeholders remain well-informed by preparing and delivering high-quality, accurate information packages and communications that meet expectations and requirements. The role also involves managing project reporting in accordance with agreed governance requirements, producing accurate and timely reports that uphold the integrity of information relating to the project’s progress and position.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Relevant degree qualifications and experience or extensive relevant experience or a combination of education/training.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of industry related documentation. Including plans, tenders, funding reports, implementation plans and evaluation reports.
- Demonstrated computer literacy with proficiency in a range of software programs including project management tools and software commonly used to collate and manage project information.
- Demonstrated numerical skills with experience in the preparation of complex reconciliations, periodic financial reporting, forecasting and modelling and a proven ability to provide accurate, concise, tailored and interpretive reports.
- Demonstrated well-developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to deliver high-level administrative support to project committees and maintain collaborative working relationships, consulting and liaising with varying levels of stakeholders to achieve outcomes for the organisation.
- Significant organisational, problem solving, analytical and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet competing deadlines, and an established record of exercising judgement and initiative.
