About the Role
The filling of this position is intended to constitute a special/equal opportunity measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and s57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1995 (NT). The successful candidate will be required to provide Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
The Project Support Officer will provide accurate, efficient and timely operational and administrative support to the eGFR3 Study. The Project Officer will assist with secretariat duties of the eGFR3 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Governance Group and supporting community researchers. In addition to this, the Project Support Officer will provide administrative support to the Clinical Research Professor, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Advancement.
The key responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:
- Building and maintaining strong and effective relationships with internal and external staff to ensure the efficient delivery of support services in a professional and culturally sensitive manner.
- Assisting with administration required for research participant tracing, data collection and archiving. This includes travel arrangements for the Study team, community researchers and facilitators.
- Managing correspondence, calendar and appointments.
- Identifying and implementing problem-solving solutions and making recommendations.
- Assisting the Study team to maintain project governance processes, primarily through liaising with and supporting stakeholders.
About You
This position will require someone with high-level administration skills, exceptional attention to detail and strong time management. The tasks will be varied and the successful candidate will be adaptable and flexible, as well as capable of building relationships with many stakeholders.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate the following, among other capabilities listed in the position description:
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in a culturally safe manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in a work context.
- Effective communication skills with capacity to prepare correspondence, agendas, minutes, briefs and other documents and respond to enquiries confidentially and autonomously.
- Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability and willingness to maintain collaborative partnerships with a variety of stakeholders from diverse cultures at a variety of levels, internal and external to Flinders University.
- Willingness to learn about research governance structures
