Senior Data Developer - Fair Trading | Data, Analytics and Infrastructure
Grade: Clerk Grade 9/10
Salary range: $125,693 - $138,510
Term: 3 x Ongoing roles, Full time
Location: Sydney & Parramatta, hybrid role - average of 50% days face to face split between CBD and Paramatta offices as required. Flexible working arrangements available within these constraints.
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Data Developer to support the Regulatory Intelligence, Data Management & Reporting (RIDMR) team. This team combines sector leading data science techniques and human intelligence to deliver data-driven compliance targeting, in-depth investigative support and evidence-based strategic advice to NSW Fair Trading.
In this role, you will develop full-stack, production-ready data solutions that empower our business users with accurate, accessible data for decision-making, compliance, and risk assessment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver data products through agile processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and visualization.
- Work comfortably across the entire data lifecycle and be confident to take on new challenges
- Design applications to identify and assess the risk of non-compliance among regulated entities.
- Automate data workflows, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
- Develop Python-based web applications to enhance user experience and operational efficiency when interacting with the regulators data products.
- Consolidate and integrate disparate data sources into physical and logical representations of business concepts / requirements.
- Work in a high performing team, taking collective ownership and driving modern data and development standards
- Keep up to date with advanced data engineering and data science concepts and how they can be utilised in a regulatory environment
Key Challenges:
- Developing scalable, adaptable data models for long-term sustainability.
- Implementing robust automated testing frameworks to ensure data integrity.

Essential Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in developing applications using Python, SQL, and related technologies.
- Strong focus on data applications and improving end-user accessibility.
