The Community Services Group (CSG) develops, maintains and analyses national data to support monitoring and reporting of:

• Health and welfare of key subpopulations, including older Australians, people with disability, and victims and perpetrators of family, domestic and sexual violence
• Use of services within a range of health and welfare sectors, including community-based services focused on aged care and disability
• Pathways and outcomes for the general population, key subpopulations and health and welfare service users.

Two CSG units work with family, domestic and sexual violence data:

The Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence Unit which focuses on national reporting and data linkage

• The Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence Data Collection Unit (FDSVDCU) which focuses on developing and enhancing data collections.

The CSG is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic senior data analyst to join the high-performing and collaborative FDSVDCU. The successful applicant will support work to establish a pilot data collection for specialist crisis family and domestic violence (FDV) services in Australia. The pilot collection is a foundational piece of work towards developing a national data collection in the future.

The majority of specialist crisis FDV services are provided by non-government organisations and funded by government. In this role you will be working closely with AIHW subject matter and data management experts to support the development, collection and analysis of the pilot data collection.

Under general direction you will:

• Develop protocols for the collection and supply of pilot data, including procedures to support data flows from suppliers to AIHW
• Develop an easy-to-use data collection tool in Microsoft EXCEL for use by services
• Design an analysis dataset from the pilot data
• Perform data cleansing, harmonisation, management and analysis, with a focus on:
• understanding data quality limitations
  testing of the application of new metadata standards
  testing of procedures for measuring complex concepts such as case complexity
• Document processes and data quality information
• Present findings, analysis and insights to inform recommendations for government
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including AIHW ICT and data management specialists
• Effectively communicate technical information to different audiences with varied levels of technical knowledge and expertise
• Work effectively in a team and to deadlines.
