We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Communications Officer to join our team at Willoughby City Council!

About the role
As a Communications Officer, you will create high-quality content for corporate advertising, marketing materials, and communications that align with Council’s strategic goals and campaigns.
Working closely with the Communications Team Leader and team, you will help deliver the Corporate Communications Strategy, supporting a strong, professional, and positive profile for Council across all channels.
What you’ll be doing:
Management of Willoughby City Council’s brand and reputation
Contribute to the strategy and planning of Council’s communications
Contribute to the business units Business Plan objectives and key performance indicators
Liaise with internal and external clients
Manage customer and media enquiries in a timely manner
Media monitoring
Write and edit copy proficiently for corporate communications
Development, implementation and reporting on communications and marketing plans
Advise on budgetary spend
Develop design briefs
Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with external stakeholders
Create content in line with the needs of the Mayoral Office
Requirements
Degree in Marketing, Communications or related and/or significant relevant experience
Excellent communication skills including a proven high level of written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience managing media
Previous experience in a communications or public relations.
An ability to liaise and negotiate with relevant internal project teams and external key stakeholders.
Proven high quality copywriting and accurate proof reading and editing skills.
Experience conceiving, independently developing and implementing high-quality communications/marketing plans.
Experience with digital organic and paid social media campaigns.
Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills as well as a demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
An understanding of how to present information to and engaging with diverse communities through a variety of formats and channels.
Excellent project management skills and experience in managing multiple projects.
Awareness of and commitment to the principles of Work Health and Safety (WHS) and a commitment to attend relevant training.
