A NSW Government department is seeking a Communications and Marketing Officer to help deliver culturally inclusive communications and marketing strategies that support community engagement and promote Aboriginal-led programs and initiatives.
About the Role:
As a Communications and Marketing Officer, you will:
- Support the rollout of communication and marketing activities that enhance visibility and engagement across programs, events, and initiatives.
- Help create, publish, and distribute engaging content across digital platforms including social media, email, and websites.
- Work closely with the Senior Communications and Marketing Officer to ensure communications are clear, consistent, and culturally appropriate.
- Assist in the development and delivery of community engagement strategies that strengthen relationships with Aboriginal people and Communities.
- Support events and campaigns from a communications perspective—ensuring messages are timely, inclusive, and aligned with key objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders including Aboriginal communities, government agencies, and industry partners.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Experience in communications, marketing, or digital media within a community, cultural, or government setting.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex or sensitive topics for a range of audiences.
- A genuine commitment to working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal communities.
- Familiarity with managing and moderating social media channels.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A collaborative mindset with the confidence to engage with stakeholders across a broad range of sectors.
Key Challenges:
- Translating complex and sensitive information into accessible, audience-appropriate content.
- Navigating competing priorities and views to support consistent and effective messaging.
- Responding quickly to emerging issues while managing multiple projects under tight timeframes.
