What’s the role?

As a Financial Accountant at News Corp Australia, you’ll play a critical role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting that drives business performance across our iconic portfolio of media brands. You’ll be responsible for preparing and reviewing general ledger transactions, monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and generating financial reports that inform strategic decision-making. Your work will also include the preparation of quarterly financial statements and deep financial analysis, giving you exposure to complex operations in a fast-paced, high-profile environment. This is a rare opportunity to step into a role where your attention to detail, process-driven mindset, and commercial acumen will directly contribute to the financial health and continued success of Australia’s most influential media organisation.

In this role you will:

  • Prepare, monitor, and review general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for allocated accounts and investigate variances.
  • Generate and deliver monthly financial reports to key stakeholders with clear analysis and insights.
  • Prepare and review quarterly financial statements, ensuring they meet internal and external reporting standards.
  • Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities through data interpretation and analysis.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and financial accuracy across the business.

Who are you?

  • A qualified Accountant with a completed CA or CPA designation.
  • Experienced in financial accounting within a large, fast-paced, and complex organisation.
  • Detail-oriented and organised, with a passion for accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Confident analysing financial data to identify trends, risks, and business insights.
  • Proactive and driven, with a mindset for continuous improvement and ownership of your work.
