We’re seeking a visionary and commercially astute General Manager who can lead this exciting transformation. Your role will be to reimagine Freccia Azzurra Club as Melbourne’s premier venue for all things Italian – combining cultural celebration, high-end hospitality, and a vibrant sports club atmosphere.

Your Mission:

You will take the lead in developing a multi-faceted destination that celebrates Italy’s passion for food, music, sport, and family. Your portfolio will cover all corners of the club’s operations, from launching a brand-new Osteria to driving member engagement across our beloved sports and social clubs, including Soccer, Bocce, Billiards, Fishing, and more.

Key Projects You’ll Own:

· The creation of our signature Osteria – a modern Italian restaurant serving up la dolce vita.

· The growth of our Juventus Academy into one of Melbourne’s leading soccer

development programs.

· Reinvigorating our club sports and recreational groups, from competitive Bocce tournaments and Billiards competitions to Fishing Club days and other recreational activities.

· Elevating Pokies (Gaming) revenue while enhancing the overall guest and member experience.

· Delivering high-end functions & cultural events that celebrate both Italian tradition and

Melbourne’s modern lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities:

· Strategic & Cultural Leadership:

o Drive the club’s overarching strategy, blending Italian cultural identity with a modern sports club environment.

o Build a hub where sports, community, food, and entertainment come together.

· Commercial & Venue Management:

o Grow and diversify revenue streams across dining, events, gaming, and member-driven sports programs.

o Lead the transformation of the Club’s 370+ capacity event space, positioning it as a go-to venue for weddings, corporate events, and cultural festivals.

· Sports & Community Club Engagement:

o Collaborate with member groups and sports clubs (Soccer, Bocce, Billiards, Fishing) to support growth, competition, and community participation.

o Introduce innovative ideas to strengthen our club culture and create new membership pathways through sport and recreational activities.

· Hospitality & Event Excellence:

o Spearhead the opening and ongoing success of the Osteria.

o Work closely with the Functions & Events Manager to deliver a packed calendar of social and cultural events, including major acts from Italy and Australia.

· Gaming Operations:

o Oversee and optimise the Club’s Gaming Room, ensuring it operates to the

highest standards of compliance, profitability, and guest service.

· Team Leadership:

o Build a dynamic and motivated team across hospitality, sports operations, events, and administration.

o Champion a collaborative, member-focused workplace culture rooted in Italian values.

· Stakeholder Engagement:

o Build meaningful relationships with members, community leaders, sporting associations, corporate partners, and entertainment promoters.

· A proven operator who can balance strategy with operational delivery across multiple revenue streams.

· Experience working within a sports or social club environment.

· Existing relationships with Melbourne’s Italian-Australian community and sporting bodies.

· A personal passion for Soccer, Bocce, Billiards, Fishing, or Italian cuisine and culture.
