About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Parts Interpreter to join our busy workshop team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately identifying, sourcing, and managing parts for a wide range of mechanical services. You’ll work closely with technicians, customers, and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of quality parts and maintain smooth workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Parts Identification & Sourcing:
Accurately identify parts based on vehicle specifications, job requirements, and manufacturer catalogues
Source parts from suppliers and ensure competitive pricing and availability
Manage stock levels, place orders, and track backorders
Customer & Workshop Support:
Provide expert advice to customers and technicians on parts availability, compatibility, and specifications
Assist technicians with identifying parts needed for repairs and maintenance
Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to resolve any issues related to parts delivery or quality
Inventory Management:
Maintain an organised inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring accurate stock counts
Conduct regular stocktakes and assist in managing warehouse storage
Monitor and reorder parts to maintain stock levels, minimising downtime in the workshop
Invoicing & Documentation:
Prepare and process invoices for parts orders and ensure accurate job costing
Maintain accurate records of all parts transactions and deliveries
Provide regular updates on parts usage and inventory levels
Customer Service:
Assist with customer inquiries, including providing pricing, availability, and technical advice
Handle returns and exchanges in accordance with company policies
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering parts in a timely and accurate manner
Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in parts interpreting, preferably in a mechanical, automotive, or diesel workshop environment
Strong knowledge of automotive parts, systems, and repair processes
Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide technical advice to customers and staff
Strong organisational skills with experience in inventory management
Ability to use parts management software and online catalogues
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
Attention to detail and accuracy in parts identification and stock management
