About the role
South West Healthcare (SWH) is currently seeking an experienced and capable Registered Nurse to step into the role of Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in our Medical/Palliative Care Unit on a fixed-term parental leave contract.
This is more than a caretaking role, it is a chance to take the lead in a high performing and well supported team, and play a key part in driving clinical excellence, staff development, and service improvement. As NUM, you will provide strong, visible leadership and ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of care. You will work closely with senior leaders to align the unit with broader organisational goals and shape its direction during this fixed-term period.
Position Overview
- Fixed Term Parental Leave commencing 28 July 2025 to the 26 June 2026
- 72 hours per fortnight
- Classification: Nurse Unit Manager
- Salary Range: $127,722.40 - $137,035.60 pro rata, plus superannuation
What you bring
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the key requirements outlined in the position description, including:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Minimum 5 years' nursing experience, including people management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with workforce planning, recruitment, and performance management.
- Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of clinical systems, safe patient care, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to manage staff and resources to meet service demand
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualifications in management or currently working towards one
