About the Organisation

The Friends of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide is a passionate, volunteer-based not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium of South Australia. Through fundraising, educational programs, and community engagement, the Friends contribute significantly to the preservation, development, and promotion of these vital green spaces. Their efforts help enhance the visitor experience and support important scientific and horticultural initiatives across Adelaide’s treasured gardens.

About the Role

As the Administration Officer, you will be the first point of contact for the Friends of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide. You will work closely with and under general direction of the President of the Friends providing administrative and secretarial support to the Friends and Friends Committee. As the central point of coordination within the organisation, you will take full ownership of its administrative functions, working independently to ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operations.

Duties

Manage member enquiries and communications across multiple channels

Support membership processing, database management, and reporting

Coordinate membership materials and handle related enquiries

Assist with committee administration, including agendas and minutes

Support the production and distribution of newsletters, brochures, and promotional content

Maintain the Friends website and support basic IT needs

Liaise with Botanic Gardens staff and assist Friends groups as needed

Provide general support to the Committee and participate in training activities

Skills & Experience

Recent experience in a similar role

Exceptional customer service skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Ability to work in an unsupervised environment with a high degree of autonomy

Ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple demands

Strong interpersonal skills

Experience working within a membership organisation or with volunteers will be highly regarded
