James Cook University (JCU) is currently seeking a passionate and experienced academic to fill the role of Associate Professor, Psychology in our College of Healthcare Sciences.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Associate Professor, you will play a key leadership role in driving impactful psychological research, translating evidence into practice, and shaping the future of education in the discipline. You will contribute to strategic planning, foster research collaboration with local and global partners, and support the academic development of students and staff alike.
You will:
- Lead research initiatives aligned with the College’s strategic goals.
- Design and deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate education.
- Supervise honours and higher degree research students.
- Engage with industry, community, and academic stakeholders to strengthen impact.
- Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive academic culture.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
To be considered for this senior position, you must possess a doctoral degree in Psychology or a closely related field, along with a strong track record of research excellence, demonstrated through high-quality publications and successful grant acquisitions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will work closely with students, colleagues, and stakeholders within the university and broader community.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE HEALTHCARE SCIENCES
The College of Healthcare Sciences promotes, fosters, supports and administers quality teaching and research at JCU in the areas of Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing and Midwifery, Psychology, and Sport and Exercise Science. Working in a collaborative leadership model with the Office of the Division, the other Colleges and the Centre for Rural and Remote Health, the College of Healthcare Sciences contributes to advancing the strategic agenda and to strengthening partnerships and engagement.
