The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the South East Qld Region.

The business services provide a range of Business administrative and reception support across IUIH and Member service clinics through Southeast Queensland.

IUIH have multiple Business traineeships positions available working in the below teams:

The administration team is responsible for providing a high standard of customer service, providing front of house reception to staff, visitors and guests at Head Office. The position is also responsible for the provision of effective and efficient administration and communications support services to assist Managers and Staff meet business objectives.

The Quality and Innovation Unit provides leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of plans, programs, models, and policies for improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Well- being.

The Policy Team supports IUIH and the IUIH Network in strategy and policy development, implementation and review, including working with key government and non-government stakeholders to advocate for and to drive system reform and growth across the IUIH Network to support our vision.

The organisational development team assist IUIH to meet its strategic objective of expanding and maintaining a competent and enabled health workforce.

About the Role?

The Business Trainee will have the opportunity to undertake ‘on the job’ training and independent study towards completing a Certificate III in Business across 12 months. The successful applicant will develop skills and knowledge that will enable them to undertake the role of an Administration Assistant or head office Receptionist

Administration Assistants and Receptionist play important roles in many departments across the IUIH Network, providing customer service and administrative support to assist in the effective daily operations of IUIH departments and teams.

In this position your duties will include:

  • Assist with general administrative duties including photocopying, scanning, and preparing documents.
  • Respond to enquiries professionally via email, phone, or MS Teams.
  • Draft and send standard written communications.
  • Suggest and support process improvements in a team environment.
  • Organising and managing digital files and documents, filing, archiving, and keeping using tools like SharePoint and other systems to manage digital files
  • Assisting with events, booking meetings, and ordering office supplies.
  • Being an active team player by supporting your colleagues and making sure both internal and external stakeholders get great service.
  • Assisting in with other admin tasks as needed.
  • Make full use of computerised data entry equipment and various word processing, spreadsheet and file maintenance programs
  • Undertake stationary stocktake and process stationary orders.
  • Work in ways which are ethically, culturally and respectfully propa; fostering integrity in our conduct and actions by matching our ways with the values of IUIH and The Ways Statement.

About You?

Essentials:

  • Current Criminal History Check
  • Valid Blue Card
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Willing to commitment to undertake studies in Certificate III in Business Administration
  • Ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, their leaders and health professionals, while respecting traditional culture, values and ways of doing business
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
