Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Controller to join our warehousing team. The Inventory Controller will be responsible for undertaking and coordinating a range of activities crucial for maintaining an optimal standard of inventory management and control. This role plays a vital part in ensuring inventory accuracy, minimizing losses, and supporting the overall efficiency of our warehousing operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Accuracy & Reconciliation:

Conduct regular cycle counts, physical inventory counts, and stock takes according to a defined schedule.

Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes (e.g., receiving errors, picking errors, system issues), and implement corrective actions.

Reconcile inventory records with physical stock, ensuring the Warehouse Management System (WMS) or ERP system reflects accurate stock levels.

Process inventory adjustments in the system, maintaining a clear audit trail.

Maintain Warehouse planogram.

Process Monitoring & Improvement:

Monitor and analyse inventory movements, identifying trends, potential issues (e.g., slow-moving stock, potential obsolescence), and areas for improvement.

Develop, document, and implement inventory control procedures and best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure adherence to established inventory processes (e.g., proper receiving, put away, picking, and shipping procedures).

Identify and recommend improvements to WMS/ERP functionality related to inventory control.

Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare and distribute regular inventory reports, including cycle count results, stock accuracy levels, discrepancy analysis, and aging stock reports.

Analyse inventory data to support decision-making regarding stock levels, reorder points, and disposition of obsolete or excess stock.

Track and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to inventory management.

Coordination & Collaboration:

Liaise with various departments (e.g., Purchasing, Sales, Production Planning) regarding inventory availability, discrepancies, and forecasts.

Coordinate with warehouse team members to ensure smooth execution of inventory-related tasks.

Assist in training warehouse staff on inventory control procedures and system usage.

Stock Management:

Monitor stock rotation principles (e.g., FIFO/FEFO) where applicable.

Identify and report damaged, obsolete, or expired stock for appropriate action.

Participate in the management of returned goods and their re-integration into inventory.

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of experience in an inventory control, stock control, or similar warehouse role.

Proven experience with cycle counting, physical inventory, and discrepancy resolution.

Team Management Experience

Systems Proficiency:

Strong experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (for data analysis and reporting).

Skills & Attributes:

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset.

Understanding of warehousing and supply chain principles.

Education:

High school certificate or equivalent required.

Relevant Logistics, Supply Chain Management accreditation, or a related field is preferred.

Forklift LO Licence

Working Conditions:

Primarily based in a warehouse environment, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and dust.

May require standing for extended periods, lifting (up to 30kg's), and operating MHE (Material Handling Equipment) if certified.
