Our Product Commercials and Strategy team is part of the Office of the Chief Digital Officer at Service NSW and plays a vital role in driving self-sustainability through commercialising digital services and improving product utilisation.

About the role
We're seeking a Senior Commercial Strategy Analyst to join our dynamic team. This newly created role will report into the Commercial Strategy and Business Lead and will play a specialised and technical part in driving commercial strategy, financial analysis, and business insights to support a customer-centric digital government.
As a key contributor, you will analyse digital commercial opportunities, support funding initiatives, and provide data-driven insights to optimise digital product performance and deliver impactful outcomes for the citizens of NSW.
Key responsibilities will include
- Assist in developing strategies to enhance product profitability and cost recovery by conducting detailed financial and commercial analysis
- Contribute to the creation of compelling business cases, including financial modelling and scenario analysis, to secure funding for key initiatives
- Maintain and refine revenue and cost models, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business objectives. Support the advancement of cost modelling methodologies
- Work closely with internal teams, including digital product, platform, and finance, to provide digital data-driven insights that inform decision-making and strategic outcomes
- Track financial and commercial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement
- Synthesise and communicate financial and commercial insights in a clear, concise manner to support stakeholder engagement and strategic discussions.
- Conduct research and benchmarking to identify best practices and emerging trends that can inform commercial strategy
On your first day, you'll have
- Experience in business case development and financial modelling
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to present findings simply to stakeholders
- An analytical approach to problem solving, a curious mind, and a positive attitude
- CPA/CA qualified professional (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills
Support office roles will be headquartered across McKell, Parramatta and Gosford. We will consider role headquarters outside of the above locations where the role can reasonably be performed from that location taking into consideration the operational, financial and customer requirements of the role, and an ability to attend a NSW Government workplace as required. At the point an employee is notified of our intention to assign them to a role, the relevant leader will discuss headquarter options.
Salary Service NSW Grade 9/10, with the base salary for this role starting at $126,898 base plus superannuation
