As we prepare for the 2025 Aged Care Reform – Support at Home Program, we are undergoing significant transformation in our finance and compliance systems. We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team and support this critical transition.
About the Role
This role is vital to ensuring financial compliance and readiness for sector-wide changes. You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborate with the Board of Directors, providing key financial insights and guidance. The ideal candidate will bring sector-specific experience in aged care accounting, especially related to government funding, compliance, and system reform.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare timely financial reports for the CEO and Board of Directors.
Produce quarterly and annual Aged Care Financial Reports using the Government Provider Management System.
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting processes.
Update accounting and budgeting policies to align with the incoming Aged Care Act (2025).
Oversee implementation and testing of new accounting systems required by the Support at Home reforms, liaising with software providers.
Conduct internal financial audits and investigations, reporting findings to management.
Monitor and report on operational costs, government grant expenditure, and funding stream allocations.
Ensure robust internal financial controls and risk assessment practices.
Manage compliance reporting for HCP and SAH clients.
Reconcile Medicare claims and client contributions.
Redesign and maintain budgeting tools to reflect the Support at Home reform structure.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Commerce.
Proven experience in an accounting/finance role within the aged care sector.
Strong budgeting and financial planning experience, particularly with trust and government-funded programs.
Proficiency in MYOB, Microsoft Office Suite, and government portals.
Current (or willingness to obtain) National Police Check.
Desirable:
High accuracy in data analysis and entry.
Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
Experience working in multicultural or community service organisations.
