Are you looking to work a 24/7 roster, work with cutting edge electronic monitoring technology, apply your highly developed risk assessment and management skills in a Community Corrections setting? The Department of Corrections has an amazing opportunity for a Rostered Probation and Parole Officer (RPPO) in our Palmerston Office.
The Department of Corrections performs an essential role in our community and the criminal justice system. Our work is complex, and we often work under difficult circumstances, but the job is rewarding.
The role of a RPPO with Community Corrections is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to make a difference in your community.
In the role you will perform a critical after-hours service in assessing and actioning risk in relation to offenders subject to court ordered electronic monitoring conditions. You will apply your highly developed knowledge of electronic monitoring systems and equipment, and community-based offender case management skills to undertake dynamic risk assessments, escalating to the NT Police Force when necessary.
RPPO’s supervise a small team of Compliance Officers after hours who ensure offenders are aware of the condition of their orders, electronic monitoring and curfew requirements, and the consequences of non-compliance with conditions and instructions.
RPPO’s work a 24/7 rotating shift pattern, with shifts broken into day, evening, night shifts. Shift lengths are 9.5 hours.
Community Corrections are looking for applicants who:
Possess a Certificate IV in Correctional Practice or recognised equivalent.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to provide accurate information, assess, manage and escalate risk.
Demonstrate risk management skills, with the ability to perform under pressure.
Knowledge and experience in the use of electronic monitoring equipment and software.
Demonstrate a high level of initiate and self-motivation to work independently and as part of a team.
Possess excellent organisational skill with ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
