Dunkeld Pastoral Co Pty Ltd is a family-owned business with its principal base at Dunkeld in the Southern Grampians region of Victoria. The company manages a diverse range of businesses across the agricultural, land management, and tourism sectors.
In Dunkeld, this consists of a large farming business integrating high-productivity grazing enterprises with a dedicated conservation and land management program and a horticultural team managing gardens, landscaping, orchards, and vegetable production. ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Farm Hand, your role is to be a team player and contribute to the success of our farms with your colleagues. With more than 27,000 acres of highly productive land under management, you will have the opportunity to work across different enterprises.
Your work will vary daily - from working with sheep, cattle, fencing, machinery, chemicals, and general farm-related duties. Safety will be at the forefront of everything you do.
Reporting to the Farm Manager, and working within a small team of experienced staff, you will:
Ensure the highest standards of animal health and welfare
Maintain accurate stock, chemical, and feeding records
Operate and maintain plant and equipment and contribute to the development of the farm properties
Adhere to company policies and safe work procedures
Ensure OHS policies and procedures are strictly followed.
Demonstrate a commitment to continued learning, actively participating in farm pasture walks, training days and workshops.
ABOUT YOU
You will be a resilient, energetic, and self-motivated individual.
Ideally, you will have:
At least two years of experience in a livestock-based farm position
A willingness to acquire and train working dogs (if not owned already) is essential
Tractor, quadbike and motorbike skills
Good fencing ability
Initiative to complete operational tasks that contribute to the team
Ability to support and work towards safe work procedures
Willingness to learn new systems of work
Demonstrated ability to follow directions from management and peers and work as a valuable team member
Knowledge of AgriWebb farm management software is advantageous but can be learned on the job.
Applicants must have previous dairy, cattle, merino or crossbred sheep experience to be considered. Applicants seeking a career in the livestock industry are encouraged to apply.
