Responsibilities and Duties:

As a landscaper, horticulturalist or gardener with The Hedge Man, you could work on any or all of the following:

creating gardens (hard and soft landscaping) on residential new builds;

re-establishing derelict gardens (hard and soft landscaping) in residential properties;

assisting onsite groundskeeper teams in the maintenance of wineries, private schools, expansive private estates and heritage properties;

taking stewardship of, maintaining and improving the gardens of our prestigious residential clients;

installing improvements to existing gardens including water features, fire pits, pathways, paved areas, retaining walls, pergolas, glasshouses, orangeries;

providing maintenance visits to help clients with IPM, restorative and formative pruning, general garden care and, most importantly, to provide a knowledgeable information source to help them enjoy their green space, whatever its designated purpose.

Applicants must have the following (or be willing to obtain prior to employment):

More than four years' experience in providing landscaping / gardening services to private clients or to a dedicated employer;

Appropriate tickets, licenses and certificates in first aid, chemicals handling, chainsaws; working safely with ladders, on elevated work platforms, mini excavators etc;

Australian driver’s license and experience of hauling trailers with 2.5t;

Police clearance;

Working with Children clearance;

Be physically fit, bringing a "can do" proactive helpful attitude that is inclusive and recognising that finishing first doesn't win awards, that finishing best does.

Reliable, punctual, hardworking and a real team player (as at The Hedge Man we all support each other);

Well presented with good communication skills and the ability to comfortably talk to clients about their love of gardens.

Strong commitment to safe work practices.

Appropriate qualifications in Horticulture, Landscaping and allied industries;

Training / experience at the Botanic Gardens or within recognised gardens and estates;

Building works licence and a portfolio of projects;

Landscape design experience and/or qualification and a portfolio of projects;

Horticultural therapy experience and/or qualification and a portfolio of projects;
