National Digital Officer - Mining and Energy Union

The National Digital Officer is a key member of the National Communications and Policy team, responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing the MEU’s digital infrastructure. This role supports campaigning, member and public communications, and the recruitment and retention of members.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and administer digital platforms related to communications and campaigning, including websites, social media channels, and email platforms.

Develop and execute both paid and unpaid digital strategies to support membership growth and campaign objectives.

Assist staff, officials, and members in effectively using the union’s digital infrastructure, ensuring positive user experiences.

Enhance digital skills and capacity across the union to foster effective online engagement.

Analyse and report on the effectiveness and outcomes of digital campaigns and strategies.

Provide expert advice on the optimal use of digital tools to achieve organisational and campaign goals.

Liaise with relevant service providers.

Assist with other tasks or projects as needed.

The Digital Officer reports to the Communications and Policy Director and collaborates with teams and District branches across the union as required. The role is based in the Mining and Energy Union National Office in Sydney CBD. Some regional and interstate travel is required to attend meetings and events.

Required Skills and Experience:

Proven experience in implementing strategies across various digital tools, such as content management systems, email platforms, and social media, with the ability to quickly learn new tools.

Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering digital campaigns that drive political change and/or membership/audience growth through both paid and organic methods.

Strong project management skills with the ability to implement and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience in managing and analysing data to inform and optimise campaign strategies.

Ability to provide strategic advice on digital tools and strategies across the organisation.

The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, be proactive in solving problems, and be able to juggle competing priorities. A commitment to trade union values is essential.

Starting Salary: $129k plus 15% Super with attractive conditions
