We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to lead and manage our school’s financial operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success and sustainability of a values-based educational environment. Some work-from-home flexibility is available by mutual agreement.

✨ Key Responsibilities

· Financial Management & Reporting: Prepare accurate financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including the School Board and funding bodies.

· Payroll & Accounting Operations: Administer payroll for 35+ staff and maintain accurate financial records, including reconciliations, in line with accounting standards.

· Audit & Compliance: Coordinate annual audits and ensure all financial practices comply with relevant legislation, standards, and regulatory requirements.

· Budgeting & Strategic Planning: Lead the development and monitoring of operational and capital budgets, supporting the school’s financial sustainability and strategic goals.

· Values-Based Financial Leadership: Align financial decision-making with the principles of Steiner education, maintaining integrity and transparency across all financial activities.

🎓 Essential Skills & Qualifications

Education: A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (CPA/CA qualification highly regarded).

Experience: Demonstrated minimum 3 years’ experience in financial management including accounting principles, payroll, BAS, and budget management within a school, not-for-profit, or similar environment.

Software Skills: Proficiency in accounting platforms such as Xero, School Pro

Key Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities independently.

Communication Excellence: Clear and effective communication with staff, leadership, auditors, and stakeholders.

Current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) or willingness to obtain

Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
