About the role

Artisan Legal is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our team in Canberra on a casual basis. In this role, you will provide vital administrative and organisational support to our legal professionals, ensuring the smooth running of our operations. As a Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial part in enabling our lawyers to deliver exceptional service to our valued clients.

This position would be ideal for a Law Student looking to gain experience in working in a legal environment or for someone interested in starting a career in the legal industry. There is opportunity for promotion to a part-time or full-time position.

What you'll be doing

Providing comprehensive administrative support, including drafting correspondence, managing calendars, and coordinating meetings

Maintaining and organising electronic and physical filing systems to ensure efficient document management

Filing and managing safe custody of documents

Attending the court registry to file or to deliver documents to other third parties

Helping to gather relevant information and materials

Providing excellent customer service to clients, both in person and over the phone

Collaborating with the wider team to ensure a cohesive and efficient work environment

What we're looking for

Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with clients and colleagues in a professional and courteous manner

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite and legal-specific software

Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of your work

A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to work well under pressure
