WHAT YOU WILL GAIN FROM THE EXPERIENCE - OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
The National Gallery is seeking an Installation Coordinator to join its experienced and enthusiastic Exhibitions Team. The Installation Coordinator plays a pivotal role installation, coordination, and execution of exhibition installations across the Gallery. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe handling, preparation, and presentation of works of art and associated display materials to the highest museum standards.
Working closely with Conservation, Curatorial, Registration, Travelling Exhibitions, and Workshop teams, the Installation Coordinator will install National Collection and loan artworks, supervise installations and support the successful delivery of exhibitions and display projects throughout the Gallery.
THE KEY DUTIES OF THE POSITION - WHAT WILL YOU DO? – DUTY STATEMENT
In accordance with the APS 4 work level standards, you will:
Installing artwork and leading the installation team in the installation artworks of various media.
Coordinate testing, documentation and storage of mounts for National Collection artworks.
Coordinate the Exhibition Department requests regarding the installation of works of art; display furniture and exhibition signage.
In consultation with the Exhibitions team, establish a schedule of daily tasks and prioritise the activities of the Installation Team to ensure that agreed project objectives and deadlines are met.
Supervise the Installation team’s adherence to approved WH&S plans and procedures, including the drafting of relevant Job Safety Analyses for installation procedures.
Supervise the development of staff in Installations activities and techniques, with a special regard for approved WH&S plans and procedures including the correct use and appropriate storage of tools and equipment.
Perform regular of stocktake of equipment and supplies
ELIGIBILITY:
Citizenship - To be eligible for employment with the Gallery, you must be an Australian citizen.
Police Check: to be eligible for this role you must complete a police check.
Qualifications, Certifications and Registration
Role specific qualifications certification and/or registrations include:
Current Driver’s Licence.
Forklift licence or the ability to obtain a licence.
Elevated work platform licences or the ability to obtain licence.
Experience installing works of art in a Gallery or Museum environment.
