About the role
Groote Archipelago Regional Council is seeking a talented and experienced Senior HR and Recruitment Officer to support all stages of the HR and recruitment functions. As a full-time position based in Parap, NT 0820, this role will be responsible for providing a diverse range of HR functions, and ensure a seamless employee life cycle from recruitment to offboarding. You will support the day-to-day HR operations, contribute to workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and drive initiatives to enhance positive staff engagement and retention.
What you'll be doing
Coordinate the staff recruitment process, including advertising, selection, appointment, and initial and ongoing staff inductions
Provide expert HR advisory services to managers and employees on a range of people-related matters, such as performance management, learning and development, and employee relations
Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance and drive organisational effectiveness
Collaborate with business leaders to understand their workforce requirements and design tailored talent acquisition and management strategies
Maintain detailed records and reporting on all HR and recruitment activities
Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR systems, processes, and programs
What we're looking for
Demonstrated experience in a senior HR generalist or recruitment role, preferably within the local government or public sector
Thorough knowledge of HR best practices, employment legislation, and industrial relations
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships at all levels
Proficient in the use of HR information systems and data analysis to inform strategic decision-making
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with a solutions-focused approach
Relevant qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline
