About the Role
The City is seeking an experienced and driven Coordinator Community Safety to join our dedicated team. This role has both a strategic and operational focus and provides high level leadership and management across Community Safety, including ranger services, parking enforcement, animal care centre and safety patrols. You will have the support of a dedicated and passionate team

The position is responsible for:

  • A positive and productive culture where employees are engaged and accountable for their work, achieving on key deliverables.
  • Providing expert advice in regards to interpretation of policies, procedures, local laws and legislation.
  • Effective and timely communication is maintained internally within the City, and externally between the City, the local community, and with key strategic stakeholders.
  • New technologies are identified and implemented, in accordance with corporate processes, to realise efficiencies and innovation in work practices.
  • Allocated budgets are effectively managed, demonstrating cost effectiveness and efficiency in the use of rate payer’s money in the pursuit of organisational goals.
  • Well researched, timely and accurate reports; communications; and corporate documents are developed and maintained for diverse audiences, including Council.

About You
You will thrive on dealing with complex issues and enjoy making things happen in a busy and dynamic working environment.

You will have in depth understanding of community safety approaches, principles and legislation. You will value the importance of investing in your team and fostering a culture that is positive, adaptive and forward thinking. Also valuing the importance of customer service, you will ensure work processes are developed around the needs of our community and customers.

You can demonstrate through your resume and covering letter that you have the following capabilities:

  • Significant experience in managing compliance with local laws and legislation;
  • Qualification in relevant discipline such as Business Commerce, Leadership or Management or relevant experience;
  • Significant experience in a similar role within a large and complex organization;
  • Highly skilled in developing and maintaining a positive and productive culture and the ability to manage individual performance;
  • Highly skilled in resource management including workforce planning, development and management; financial planning and budget management; most effective utilisation of limited resources; and developing business strategy; and
  • Advanced communication skills including advocacy, report writing, verbal and public speaking.
