EnviroCom has offices in QLD, NSW, VIC and ACT.

These offices work primarily as small teams to deliver projects within each geographic region, but also assist other branches with specialised skills or to meet specific project needs.

You will be an environmentally and creatively minded individual, who wishes to participate in all aspects of Envirocom services.

This will result in regional as well as interstate travel on occasions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Field Officer (Bin Education & Engagement Services) role is a lifestyle opportunity offering the right candidate a full-time permanent position.

Our Eight Mile Plains office is seeking a self-motivated Field Officer to assist in the manual segregation of waste material and visual inspection of kerbside bins, landfill, transfer stations and recycling plants.

This position will assist in achieving improved waste and sustainability outcomes for our customers and their communities throughout Australia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sort waste (general waste, organic waste or recyclable) materials into allocated categories etc.

Be involved in a range of activities which may include:

Detailed material segregation

Data recording

Visual inspections of waste and recycling containers

Assisting other in segregation of materials and collection of samples for assessment.

Visual inspections of various sites and kerbside bins prior to collection in selected areas,

Engagement and liaison with residents and the community at the kerbside / in the community when approached

Co-operate with Supervisors/Managers to ensure that materials are processed/assessed in accordance with customer requirements.

Collection, recording, entry and checking of data.

Regional and local travel (up to 5 nights at a time)

Facilitate flow of information

Ability to prioritise and perform duties in a varied role

Able to multi-task and demonstrate an enthusiasm and determination to perform work tasks

Demonstrate the ability to build rapport and relationships with all stakeholders

Be dedicated to achieving high standards of safety compliance

ABOUT YOU

Knowledge, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge, of kerbside waste services – recycling, food and garden waste etc

Willingness to engage in physical research projects including early morning walking bin inspections, and visiting various types of waste sites

Confidence in verbal communication skills, including using radios and working with staff on various sites/ stations as well as face to face public engagement

Reasonable level of computer literacy, including an understanding of basic Excel functions

Ability to travel locally and interstate where required - moderate level required in the first few months

The ability to work alone and within a multi-disciplinary team

Class C drivers licence – manual preferred

Be dedicated and reliable

An understanding of sustainability or the environmental field, with an interest in community education, behaviour change and communication
