A prestigious university requires a driven building professional to join their busy team. Reporting to the Head of Capital Works, you will be responsible for managing current projects utilising existing in-house systems and procedures.
The successful candidate will have specialised front-end project management (design and development management), consultant management, project finances and systems/contractual skills to ensure that these projects are delivered to budget and to plan.
Projects will mainly include working within existing buildings, fit out, churn, converting space, as well as refurbishment of existing teaching space and laboratories, etc. Smaller projects, lifts, facades, chillers, etc. will also be managed along with some capital works. To deliver these projects, you will have continuous and productive engagement with the university community, external consultants, stakeholders and the Property and Projects Team.
Key requirements for the roles are:
- Must understand the construction project delivery process from feasibility, funds approval, tender through to delivery.
- Full comprehension of construction and consultant contracts and how to manage them appropriately.
- Experience managing the design process for fit-out projects
- Superior stakeholder liaison skills, including managing multiple clients per project.
- Ability to manage project management consultancies and stakeholders to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Proven aptitude in managing project finances, progress payment and settlement.
You must also have demonstrated communication and negotiation skills, the ability to provide written and oral reports/financial briefings, and the proficiency to interpret and verify works to specifications for payment.
This is a Client-Side project management role and involves Building Projects over some fascinating assets. You will be tertiary qualified in engineering, building or a trade background and have at least 5 years' solid building project management experience. Exposure to tertiary education projects is seen as an advantage.
For this 3-month agency contract, you will be immediately available and will bring an established client-side building background and strong working knowledge of similar projects. In return, you will be paid, on a daily basis, within the range of $700-800/day plus super.
This is a great opening and a rare university opportunity for an experienced Project Manager and is only open to candidates with full working rights in Australia.
