This pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading
- Initial 12 + 6-month contract paying approx $131/hr
- Brisbane CBD Location with flexibility to WFH 2 days per week
Our client, a large Queensland Government Department, are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to provide leadership and oversee the planning phase of all new buildings, including facilitating the engagement of consultants to complete four (4) core deliverables including (but not limited to):
- Preparing a preliminary evaluation and/or a detailed business case (in accordance with the Queensland Government's Project Assessment Framework)
- Obtain all relevant planning approvals, including Ministerial Infrastructure Designations, development applications, or any other approval process required; and
- Preparing the Cabinet Budget Review Committee submission
- Ensure that all aspects of internal Department Governance and reporting is completed.
Throughout the planning phase of the project, the Senior Project Manager will lead both internal and external discussions, oversee the implementation of the project program and be the central point of contact for the project. This role requires an experienced project manager ready to transition into the role or an experienced senior project manager to oversee a project within the planning phase of the project life cycle.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience on infrastructure/construction projects, with experience on government infrastructure projects being favourable, and will need to lead a project team to help facilitate the preparation of the team's core deliverables. The Senior Project Manager will be supported by a dedicated project team with technical experts to facilitate the required deliverables and duties.

Key coordination activities:
- Develop Preliminary Evaluations, Detailed Business Cases, and Ministerial Infrastructure Designations with minimal supervision
- Coordinate teams of external consultants for efficient development of the work
- Assist with procurement activities for the engagement of external consultants
- Manage monthly financial reporting and forecast expenditure of the project.
- Liaise as necessary with internal and external stakeholder groups and agencies
- Provide project specific advice to management and the executive, and liaise with other units as required.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members and external consultants
- Build and maintain high levels of communication and collaborative partnerships with internal units and external agencies to facilitate achievement of project objectives
- Develop and maintain project programs and risk registers to a high standard
- Prepare and present monthly reporting on internal and external governance reporting boards and working groups
- Undertake project risk assessments to a high standard to ensure both project and corporate risks are captured and mitigated
